Catherine graduated from Southern Methodist University, Meadows School of the Arts, where she focused on the classical study of painting and the art of printmaking. After receiving her BFA, she remained in Dallas and brought her creativity to the commercial level. Her illustrations were published in various publications, including the American Airlines magazine. After working in the commercial art field, she made the decision to continue her passion for Fine Art.
She went on to receive her MFA studying painting and printmaking in the graduate department of Colorado State University and Northern Illinois University. As a graduate student she was honored to receive numerous awards including CUS's Graduate Teaching Assistantship, NIU's Outstanding Woman Student Award, John X Koznarek Scholarship Award and NIU's Fellowship Award.
Today, Catherine's creative approach features commissioned paintings. Her paintings are about movement in time. Sunlight on a branch, trees shading the ground, fresh fruit bought at a market. All of it, evidence of life.
Her portfolio expands beyond paintings to include custom murals for both private and commercial interiors, and commissioned painted furniture. She is currently attending school to obtain her teaching certification to become an art teacher. She is one of the artists featured in the book "ArtRockford." A publication celebrating artists in the Rock River Valley. |
